Welcome

Following years of unknowingly passing each other at their local swimming pool, as teenagers Kevin and Emma’s eyes met over a spare slice of rich chocolate cake at a friend’s birthday party. Over 12 years later their loving bond continued to grow and is now stronger than ever.

After owning several properties together in the Berkshire area they gave notice at their workplaces and began a new adventure in Northern England. This exciting journey would teach them about life and business. They launched their own IT solutions company that provided knowledge and technology solutions to local businesses. By providing high quality services to start-up companies they helped clients expand their own businesses, encouraging repeat custom.

The core of the business was built through web-hosting and server storage. With great regret Emma and Kevin felt it best to close the company after only 3 years of trading. It was no longer possible to compete in this existing saturated market where blue-chip companies accommodated more customers on over subscribed servers with a larger advertising budget.

Having sold their northern home, Emma and Kevin moved back down south. Little did they know the UK was to be hit hard within weeks with a recession.

About Kevin

Born and raised in Berkshire in the south of the UK. I was the middle son of three. Music was a passion of mine which is why I learnt to play the viola, piano, electric keyboard and drums. I enjoyed playing classical music on my viola and played in several orchestras. This lead me to play concerts in 3 countries.

I enjoyed playing chess as a teenager and won the Berkshire chess championship. I no longer play chess other than the odd game once a year with Emma for fun.

I also owned my own tennis racket and liked to play on a local clay court in my own time. Its unfortunate that there are no tennis courts in or around the small village I recently moved to. I’ve always enjoyed mountain biking and there are plenty of country lanes and off road biking opportunities.

I loved my job as a projectionist and floor supervisor for a large Cinema complex. I started here as part time staff while in sixth form and then moved to full time for a short while after I completed my education. This involved moving films between projectors, setting the projectors up , building advert reels and breaking films down for shipping. As floor supervisor I managed the ushers, concessions stand staff and cashiers. I regularly cashed up tills and performed stock takes.

At an early age I began to study computers and my very first was the BBC Micro with a cassette tape drive. It was here that I taught myself my first language “Basic”. My interest in computers and technology continued to adulthood where I used to be a server and forum administrator on a website with 17,000 members.

Project management has been a passion of mine for some years now. I started in the Civil Service where I worked with managers in the financial teams. The logical way of project planning suited me and I wished to transfer those skills towards my future so I started learning PRINCE2 and wish to further my skills in this area.

I lived and worked for a short time in the Midlands with my partner Emma. This opened new challenges including the running of our business. I became a co-founder of a company offering IT solutions to small local businesses after finding a hole in the market for that region.

I would love to settle in a quiet location and secure my career in a permanent role.

About Emma

I have a Passion for food, Yoga and exercise. I like to experiment with all kinds of recipes; savory or sweet. My lucky partner Kevin gets to try them first. He really is the best person for the job because he used to be a taste tester.

I like my music and have been known to have a little dance whilst stirring the cake mix or preparing the pork to create a soft, yet crispy crackling. Very fatty but defiantly worth the calories. All my recipes are on this website. My favourite is the technique for the pork crackling. Did loads of experiments and finally found the perfect technique.

After passing my GCSE’s I had such a zest for life that I wanted to go right into full time work and experience the real world for what it was. I lived and worked in the South East and Midlands but my heart has always stayed in Berkshire where I was brought up.

I cycled or walked to the gym as a teenager. A habit that continued into adulthood where I discovered the spa and relaxation rooms. These days I find using a mix of Yoga, Thai-Chi and Pilate's is a great way for me to relax.

With the recession beginning in 2008, stable work has been hard to come by. This is why I’ve been temping and felt it necessary to move where the work is, which brought me to a quiet little village in Buckinghamshire. I like it here so much that I even started designing my own house that I would love to build one day.
